Feb 26- Black History Month Celebration

Hello again! On Feb 26, I got to be a guest of honor at the Black History Month Celebration at the DuSable Museum in Chicago, IL. This event was hosted by Power 92, V103, and Verizon. Recording artist Monica also performed. It was truly an amazing night. Monica is very inspirational. I also got the chance to raise awareness about the Heart Truth Campaign while at this event. I also got to meet the former wife of singer, R. Kelly. She is so inspirational to a lot of young ladies. She works with battered and abused women. She also has a dance troupe. I was very blessed to have the opportunity to connect with her. I plan on working with her and her organization in the very near future. :)

This clothing line was started by amazing students at Northwestern University! They custom make amazingly styled clothes!!! Visit their FAN PAGE ON FACEBOK HERE!! :) I am definitely looking forward to working with them again!

February 18- At Tabitha House

Ok my lovelies, I am going to have to catch you up on some of my appearances and the awesome experiences I have had.

February 18, I got the pleasure of speaking to women and children at the Tabitha House women's shelter.
I spoke about the importance of being true to yourself as well as the Heart Truth Campaign.

I let the women know about all of the fun exercises that they can do and all of the healthy foods they can eat to support the health of their heart.
I also let them know that they should continually check their blood pressure, glucose/ blood sugar levels, and cholesterol.

I had a blast! I even got to give a brand new pair of basketball shoes to one of the girls who loves basketball! We should always remember that we are blessed to be a blessing! :)

March 16, 2010

Hi everyone! I have been very busy on my journey to the 2010 Miss Black USA Pageant! :) I will keeping everyone updated on my past and future events. This week, I have been empowering young people through the art of dance. Volunteering with these wonderful young people, I have not only been teaching them choreography, but also have been mentoring them mentally and emotionally. It feels so great! I also get to be a media liaison for a large forum hosted by Tavis Smiley that will be featuring Farrakhan, the president of the NAACP, and many influential politicians. I was also blessed with tickets for a comedy show to give away to people who enter my contest to celebrate the influential women in their lives in honor of Women's History Month. On Saturday, I also won the first portion of Chicago State University's Fitness Challenge. I won in the female category as well as the overall category, which means that I won against all of the females and males that competed! I was very excited! Fitness is very important to me, as it is one of the components of my platform to help minimize the effects of cancer.
